The Swedish giant will not go to Sweden to challenge Slovenia, Norway and Serbia in the League of Nations.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss Sweden’s Nations League matches in June against Slovenia, Norway and Serbia due to injury, Sweden coach Janne Andersson said on Wednesday.
‘He had injury problems for a while and didn’t play much at Milan so he refused to play’Andersson told reporters as he unveiled Sweden’s squad roster.
Ibrahimovic returned to the Swedish national team in March 2021 after a five-year hiatus following Euro 2016.
In March, the 40-year-old AC Milan striker said he wanted to continue playing international football “as long as possible”despite Sweden’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
But since then speculation has been rife that the ending season could be his last as a player due to his recurring injuries.
Ibrahimovic will be 42 when the next big international tournament he could play with Sweden is Euro 2024 in Germany.
