As a reminder, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a free and effective software that protects your system from malware. Note: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is completely free, but the Premium version (not essential for the effectiveness of the software) is activated automatically and is available for 14 days. To switch back to the free version, go to “Settings” > “My Account” tab and click on “Deactivate Premium Trial” at the bottom.

From a simple click, you will have in record time the report on the state of health of your system. In the report, you will see the files infected by the malicious software which can be a virus, a trojan horse, an adware or a worm. Infected files can be quarantined so as not to affect the functioning of your system. You can also remove the threat as you see fit. The latter are made up of a list of the latest versions of malware circulating on the Internet. If the software has the latest updates, it is unlikely that your system is infected with any virus. Download and install

  • Download MalwareBytes’ Anti-Malware from this page.
  • Install and then launch the program. The trial of the Premium version (paid) is automatically activated and is available for 14 days. Then the software automatically switches to the free version. If you don’t want to wait the 14 days, go to “Settings” > “My Account” tab and click on “Disable Premium Trial” at the bottom.


MalwareBytes Anti-Malware will automatically check that the latest version is installed and update itself if necessary.

To do it manually:

  • On the right, in “Analysis status”, click on the rotating arrow.
  • Once updated, you can run a scan*.
  • Click on “Scan now” present in the “Dashboard” or in the “Analysis” tab, select “Threat analysis” then click on “Start analysis”.
  • Once the scan* finished, click “Quarantine selected”.
  • When MalwareBytes Anti-Malware has finished quarantining detected items, click “Close”. If a message asks to restart the PC to complete the deletion, accept.
  • The report is available in “Reports” as “Analysis report”. You can export it in order to make a personal analysis or post it on the Virus / Security forum (where you will explain why you made this scan).

advice : The scan will be much more effective against active infections if you do not use your Internet browser during this scan and especially if you are not not in Safe Mode.

Scheduling scans (Premium version)


  • This tells MalwareBytes Anti-Malware not to scan certain folders/files, not to block a site (detected by mistake for example), etc.
  • What is good since the version 2 update is that when you browse and you have the Premium version and the blocking of malicious websites, instead of ending up on a site not found error page, a logo of Malwarebytes will allow you to identify that it is he who is blocking the site. From there it is up to you to decide if you accept or not.
