It’s the webmaster (Where webmaster) which gives birth and to live a website. After having put in place the architecture and the sections, it ensures its proper functioning (display bugs, compatibility with different browsers) and its update. Increasingly, webmasters are responsible for hosting, referencing and traffic analysis (including Google Analytics), in order to establish forecasts and recommendations that allow more relevant editorial choices and optimal technical performance. This facet of webmaster therefore joined the profession of traffic manager.

Depending on the size of the business or department, the webmaster may work under the responsibility of the marketing director, the communications manager, the project manager or the site manager, when he does not himself assume this function. For an Intranet site, he calls on the various departments of the company to enrich the sections.

One webmaster must know how to interface between several services and have a sense of coordination. He has sometimes difficult working conditions, with heavy and staggered schedules: meeting deadlines is imperative and on-call days are not uncommon.
