Do you use Snapchat? Whatever your answer, the Story Studio app should be of interest to you. Snap announced it in May, but it’s only now launched …

An advanced editing tool on Snapchat

The social network Snapchat launched Story Studio, an application to create and edit professional content on smartphones. This is’an app that works independently from Snapchat and which is meant to be an advanced editing tool, with which you can edit both photos and videos to achieve high quality results. Story Studio lets you create videos in a more advanced and engaging vertical format.

The new app is meant to give creators, especially those with Snapchat and Spotlight accounts, the ability to use more advanced editing tools on their videos. He understands :

  • Image-precise cropping, dividing and synchronization tools;
  • Tools to add transitions, layers, captions and sounds;
  • The complete Snap Lens library;
  • Snapchat lenses as well as songs and stickers for vertical videos;
  • A built-in share button through which users can directly share their videos with.

The video editor app also has Snapchat info that will show trends in sounds, hashtags, and goals so users have a better understanding of what can increase their video’s reach.

A unique video editing app

Story Studio is a video editing app for vertical videos and for Snapchat’s TikTok-like Spotlight feature that the company launched in November of last year. Similar to TikTok and Instagram Reels, Spotlight allows Snapchat users to post vertical videos and has an endless scrolling flow. Story Studio will thus allow Snapchat users to edit their vertical videos which can be exported directly to Spotlight or uploaded to a Snapchat story.

Story Studio is of course easily exported to Snapchat and Spotlight, but also includes the ability to upload and share on just about any platform. What’s even better is that it won’t include a watermark, unlike the leader in vertical videos, TikTok.

Strong competition in the mobile video market

Snap still faces stiff competition in the mobile video space from TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Facebook. The latter said in July that it would pay creators $ 1 billion until 2022. Although Snap claims that the creators of Spotlight publish three times more often than they were when the feature was announced, it’s still a relatively new product, and it’s up against giants like TikTok with 1 billion monthly users.

Interestingly, Meta also recently launched its Spark AR Go app, to get ahead of its competition. This new feature facilitates the simplified creation of publications based on augmented reality.

For now, only users in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain can test Snapchat’s Story Studio, as well as iOS users. However, we can be sure that when a final version is released it will be available wherever Snapchat is available. If you want to use Story Studio and you’re from the US, UK, or Canada, you can download it for free from the App Store. If you don’t see it yet and fall into the aforementioned settings, please be patient, this is happening slowly.

To be continued then, as this could be a handy tool to have, especially for those looking to use Snapchat in their social media strategy.
